Suggestions for a Theme Party

From birthdays, anniversaries and holidays to graduations and sporting events, there is no better way to celebrate a special occasion than to host a theme party. Some theme party suggestions include, but are not limited to, an anniversary luau, Super Bowl fiesta, toga graduation party, 1960s-themed birthday party, child's cartoon character birthday, Christmas in July and a Halloween costume party. With decorations, music, costumes, games and food highlighting a specific idea, a theme party can be both fun and memorable for everyone involved.

Super Bowl Fiesta

For many sports fans, the Super Bowl is one of the greatest sporting events to take place all year. A Super Bowl fiesta theme party is a great way to have fun and enjoy the game with friends and family. You do not even have to be a football fan to enjoy a good Super Bowl party.

Those going to a Super Bowl party are mainly interested in three things: the game, food and drinks. Therefore, as a host it is important to satisfy these needs. Ask your guests to dress in attire best representing the team they support. For those who do not care about the game, request they at least dress in the color of one of the teams. This way, everyone is involved.

To keep children entertained, set up a football piñata in another room with Mexican music playing in the background. Be sure to have an area with plenty of room where football fans can crowd around a television to grunt, yell and jump around during the big game.

Since the party theme is fiesta, set side dishes on the tables filled with different types of Mexican appetizers, including chips and salsa, jalapeno poppers, bean dip, guacamole and mini-quesadillas. Also, rather than try to serve one big meal, create a buffet-style setting so everyone can serve themselves when they are ready to eat. Foods may include Spanish rice, enchiladas, tacos and burritos. Also, make sure you have plenty of beverages for your guests to drink, including a variety of Mexican beers, margaritas, tequila, water, sodas and juices.

Child's Cartoon Character Birthday

As a parent, there is nothing better than making your child happy, especially during their birthday. To ensure your child has an unforgettable and enjoyable birthday, host a party revolving around your child's favorite cartoon. For example, if your child loves “Care Bears,” ask guests to dress in the color of their favorite Care Bear. Decorations, such as balloons, streamers and birthday banners, should revolve around the cartoon. A Care Bear piñata is a great way to add fun and excitement to the party.

When it comes time to eat, serve appetizers and finger-sandwiches on Care Bear plates, and surprise your child with a cake shaped and decorated like their favorite Care Bear. Beverages, such as juice, punch, water and soda should be served in Care Bear-themed cups with straws to match. Before each child leaves, give them a set of Care Bear stickers to enjoy.

No matter which type of cartoon your child enjoys, a cartoon theme party is a great way to make a big impression on everyone involved, especially your child.
